Battle of the Books

📚 Fort Worth ISD Battle of the Books.📚

Battle of the Books (also known as BoB) is the annual districtwide reading competition in Fort Worth ISD. Every year around one thousand 3rd-12th grade students participate in a two day event held at TCU.  The Battle of the Books Committee chooses a selection of books for each grade level/range to read over the course of the year, and in May teams compete in a three round quiz game answering questions about the books to determine who knows the books best!

🎯 Purpose of the Team

  • To encourage a love of reading through a fun, competitive format

  • To expose students to a wide variety of books, authors, and genres

  • To help students practice comprehension, recall, and critical‑thinking skills

  • To build teamwork as students collaborate, discuss books, and prepare for competitions

  • To promote good sportsmanship and a positive attitude toward learning

  • To strengthen students’ confidence as they share what they know and contribute to a team effort

🌟 Why It Matters

Students who participate in Battle of the Books often discover new favorite books, grow as readers, and feel proud of their accomplishments. The team creates a welcoming space where every reader has something valuable to contribute, and where reading becomes an adventure shared with friends.
